The 2024 Women in Golf Awards, set to take place on 28 November at Foxhills, promises to be an inspiring celebration of the vital contributions women make across every area of the golf industry. I look forward to witnessing the incredible talent, passion and dedication on display at the event.

This year, 200 nominations were received across eight award categories, a clear indication of the expanding recognition of women’s impact in golf. This high level of engagement demonstrates a shift within the sport, one that welcomes the growing influence of women across a range of roles—from players and coaches to managers, sales executives, marketeers and administrators. It’s exciting to see how women are shaping the future of golf, and the diversity in the nominees reflects just how many avenues are available for women in this industry.

One of the most positive transformations in golf has been the influx of young women players in recent years, a trend that was especially pronounced during and following the pandemic. This shift has altered the game’s demographics and made a lasting impact on the industry, pushing brands to broaden their product ranges, especially in clothing and footwear.

I’ve seen this change first-hand at my own club, with a younger demographic now influencing the demand for fresh styles and different product offerings, moving beyond the traditional appeal to older players. This demographic shift is, I believe, due to the biggest increase in women golfers I’ve witnessed in my career, and it has transformed how we approach golf apparel, footwear and other associated women’s product offerings.

The Women in Golf Awards is a fitting opportunity for the industry to reflect on the progress made toward creating a more inclusive and diverse environment. We’ve seen significant improvements in representation, with many women now in senior roles, a development I am proud to have witnessed and supported throughout my career.

Events like this are crucial in driving further progress, as they provide a platform to recognise the achievements of women at every level. The BGIA is proud to sponsor this event, aligning with other organisations equally committed to advancing opportunities for women in golf. Together, we are creating a positive environment where women can thrive and contribute to the game in various roles.

Beyond celebrating individual achievements, the Women in Golf Awards serve as a call to action for us all. As an industry, we must continue to push for greater inclusion and equal opportunities, ensuring that golf remains a welcoming space for everyone.

For those attending, I look forward to celebrating your achievements and hearing the inspiring stories of talented women working in golf. I am confident that this year’s finalists will continue to set a high standard for future generations. It’s a positive picture for the future of our industry, and long may it continue.
