We’re delighted to announce that the BGIA is making its biggest ever investment in growing the game of golf. In partnership with the Golf Foundation, a new pilot programme is being launched designed to help more school pupils transition from school to golf clubs.
This programme expands the success of the Golf Foundation’s Unleash Your Drive in Schools initiative. Over the next 12 weeks, 42 projects across England, Scotland and Wales will introduce over 1,000 pupils to the game of golf. After a six-week introduction at school, students will be given the chance to visit a local golf club, receive coaching from a PGA Professional and take part in the GolfSixes League.
This initiative is designed to strengthen the connection between schools and golf clubs, helping young people discover the lifelong benefits of golf, both on the course and in their careers. By building a strong pipeline, the programme not only aims to grow the game but also introduces students to the wide range of career opportunities within the golf industry.
BGIA Chair, Martin Wild, says:
“It’s paramount that young people are introduced to golf as early as possible, not only to enjoy the game itself but also to discover the fantastic careers the golf industry has to offer. In a world where technology and social media often keep children indoors, this programme is a great antidote—encouraging them to be active, social and engaged in a lifelong sport. Grow Golf funding members are delighted to make this significant investment, as it opens the door for more children to experience the incredible opportunities that both the game and the wider industry provide.”
